Rival factions develop among the gang, and watching Dutch van der Linde transition from a relatively principled leader to an unhinged psychopath is one of the most vivid and raw portraits of villainy I’ve seen. Once-vibrant camp nights filled with campfire songs and revelry are slowly replaced by suffocating discontent. But watching the fabric that holds the gang together fray and unravel as the law chases them across the country over the course of Red Dead Redemption II is riveting nonetheless. If you’ve played Red Dead Redemption, you already know how this tragic story ends.

Gun shots cause blood to spurt out of your enemies, and you can stab, or slit the throat of people in optional executions, while one scene sees a mutilated body hanging from the ceiling. Meanwhile, some sections of the game see you smuggling opium, while another scene sees a character inject himself with a syringe filled with a drug.Īs you'd likely expect, violence is often fairly explicit too. Although it's so oddly animated, it's possible children may not actually understand what's happening, it does feature exposed breasts. At one point, the game shows two characters having sex, while the man is fully clothed, and the woman has her shirt undone, revealing her breasts. Bad language is fairly frequent and strong throughout, with f**k, s**t and c*nt all making an appearance. Taking place in the darker side of the Wild West, there's a lot that parents should be aware of in Red Dead Redemption.
